Wine Information

Héloïse is the winery’s flagship red blend and a cuvée of approximately 2/3 Syrah, approximately 20% Grenache Noir, and a touch of Roussanne. The wine was named after the famous philosopher Heloise d’Argenteuil, the student and later lover of Pierre Abélard. The Grenache Noir is over 60 years old and grows northwest-facing at an altitude of 530 meters. The Syrah is over 50 years old and grows southwest-facing at an altitude of 540 meters. The soils are characterized by limestone marl and are very stony. The wine was aged for 18 months in barriques.

Color

Almost opaque garnet red with a slight brick-colored rim.

Nose

The 2017 Héloïse is a concentrated, deep wine, with aromas reminiscent of rich, ripe black cherries, blackberries, plums, and cranberries, as well as a tapenade of black olives, a concentrated veal jus, rosemary, and allspice.

Palate

On the palate, the cuvée appears deep, ripe, and mature, making it perfect to drink now. It possesses volume and fullness, as well as a fine, chalky texture. This southern wine is reminiscent of dark berries, cherries and kirsch, licorice, and dark chocolate with a sweet core and a cool, mineral vein.
