Description
Product description for Charlopin Tissier Bourgogne “Montre Cul” rouge AOC 2022
The name Charlopin is not entirely unknown in Burgundy. Philippe Charlopin produces wines in Gevrey-Chambertin from an impressively diverse portfolio of vineyards. His son Yann worked with him for several years before founding his own winery with his wife Justine Tissier in 2013. The couple primarily produce wines from cool vineyards in Marsannay and the surrounding area, but also own plots in Vosne-Romanée, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Pernand Vergelesses, for example. The main focus is on Pinot Noir, which at Charlopin-Tissier undergoes a particularly long cool pre-fermentation and is always completely destemmed. Although the pair use a comparatively high proportion of new wood, the wood always appears elegant and supportive, never intrusive. This produces very classic wines that follow no fashion. They develop slowly but steadily and require plenty of air and time before they begin to shine from within.
