Description
Domaine Charles Joguet is one of the most famous wineries specializing in Cabernet Franc in the Loire. Joguet founded it in 1957 and produced many excellent wines until his retirement in 1997. This was followed by a period of reinvention by the Genet family, who had already joined the winery in 1985. The farm of 20 hectares – about two hectares are planted with Chenin Blanc – was converted to organic practices and was certified in 2016. The estate’s legendary sites, which produce wines that will shine for many decades, include the monopole sites Clos de la Chêne Vert on the right bank of the Vienne and Clos de la Dioterie, which was mentioned as early as the Middle Ages, right next to the winery on the left bank of the Vienne. The entry-level wines are aged in concrete, the mid-range in large wood and the crus in tonneaux with a small proportion of new barrels.
