The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode was also still quite primary and unevolved when I tasted it from barrel, unwinding in the glass with notes of cherries, berries, licorice and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a chassis of sweet, powdery tannin, it’s built for the cellar.

The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru was taken directly from demi-muids, though it is raised in regular barrels, too. The nose has wonderful delineation and purity: redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, elegant and poised with judicious oak use. The palate is medium-bodied with fine structure and grip. The 20% whole bunches is less than others due to the natural pH, a wise decision as the finish maintains tension. A gem.
