Wine Information

The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva comes from the vineyards of Podere Brizio, a few kilometers southwest of Montalcino. The vineyards are located on marl and limestone, as well as sandy and clay soils of maritime origin. The Brunello is 100% Sangiovese Grosso, certified organic since 2015. Fermentation was spontaneous. The wine was aged for 48 months in 5.4 hl Slavonian oak barrels. This was followed by bottle aging.

Colour

Slightly transparent garnet red with brick-red reflections

Nose

The aroma of the Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2015 is both powerful and ethereal. The wine is reminiscent of dried mint and other herbs, dried violet blossoms and undergrowth, a hint of cedar and the fruit of ripe and partly crushed wild strawberries. Added to this is a hint of amaro with blood orange zest. The Riserva is transparent, clear, and elegant.

Palate

This elegant transparency prevails on the palate. The wine possesses power and depth, but also appears ethereal, fragrant, and herbal. The aging in large bottini has done it good. You can concentrate on the finesse that the Brunello undoubtedly possesses. It shines with a clear acidity structure and polished tannins. Everything appears silky and, despite its youth and strength, easy to drink and inviting. Ideally, the Riserva should be given plenty of air to open up even further and reveal the full breadth of the blend of dried cherries, wild strawberries, grilled herbs, and blossoms.
