Description
Bakkanali is the name of the new winery of Sebastian Nasello, winemaker at Podere Le Ripi in Montalcino, and his friend Ugo Fabbri. The two travelled far and wide in search of the right terroir with which they could realise their idea of their own wine. And then they found it more or less on their doorstep: an elevation with high temperature fluctuations and geologically ancient terrain, rich in limestone and quartz, which turns into slate and volcanic sand the higher you go. It is the ancient volcano Monte Amiata. The two named their project after the bacchanalia of the Romans, famous for their conviviality. This is how the two friends met. They produce their wines for such occasions. Their vineyards are located at an altitude of 600 to 800 metres and are in conversion to biodynamic viticulture.
