Wine Information

The Nana comes from the Val do Salnés subzone in Rías Baixas and is made from 100% Albariño. Grown in the family’s oldest pergola vineyards, the vines are planted on granite-rich soils with a sandy-loamy component and a northwest exposure. After the hand-harvest, the grapes are destemmed upon receipt, and only the first pressing is used. The must then ferments spontaneously in 225- and 500-liter French oak barrels and ages on the lees for 12 months with regular battonage.

Nose

The 2022 Xión is an opulent and generous wine from the outset, with notes of ripe Williams pears with pear cream, pineapple, peach, nectarine, and ripe orange combined with some buttered and salty popcorn, lightly toasted hazelnuts, and slightly iodine accents from the nearby sea.

Palate

On the palate, the Nana displays the same fullness and juiciness that one could already experience on the nose. The wine is juicy, citrusy, zesty, and again generous in fruit, with plenty of cream from the long, repeatedly stirred lees. Added to this are notes of flint and wood, orange oil, and iodine. This is a wine as complex as it is expansive. Almost a Condrieu of the Rías Baixas and highly recommended with high-quality seafood.
