Wine Information

The brilliant Embaixador 2021 is a white wine from a 0.5-hectare single vineyard in the Salnes Valley in the Rias Baixas wine-growing region. The 60-year-old Albariño vines are trained in the traditional pergola system. In this part of Rias Baixas, rainfall is about twice as high as in Hamburg, which is why the grapes are kept as far away from the moist soil as possible, thus forming a pergola. The granite soils in the single vineyard from which the Embaixador comes are also typical. The wine is spontaneously fermented and aged for two years on the fine lees, one year in steel tanks and the other in granite vats.

This wine offers an extremely stimulating and complex nose with notes of fresh pear, grapefruit, and herbs. And knowing it’s coming straight from the Atlantic, you can also smell the fresh sea breeze.

Palate

The Embaixador 2021 is an impressively complex, deep, and round white wine. It possesses a wonderful balance between aromatic intensity and fine, pointed acidity. Truly good Albariños always require two to three years of aging to allow the acidity, often so blatant in Rias Baixas, to integrate beautifully. This is also the case with this white wine. The acidity is fabulously integrated, and the wine has a texture that lies somewhere between silky and creamy, feeling super-elegant in the mouth. The citrusy note of red grapefruit that this wine has is also magnificent. Absolutely classy!
