Product description for Zehnthof Luckert Creutz Silvaner, wurzelecht 2022 (bio)
This Silvaner comes from approximately 150-year-old, ungrafted vines that the Luckerts recultivated in the Sonnenberg vineyard, in a residential area of Sulzfeld. Recultivated because some of the vines, which naturally produced only minimal yields, had already been sawn off by the previous owners. Instead of aging in double barrels, the Luckerts use a 600-liter tonneau that has been in use for several years for this wine.
Light golden yellow with delicate green reflections.
The 2022 Silvaner Creutz still seems a bit closed due to its youth, but a lively decanting into the carafe immediately brings it to life. Bright fruits like sweet pear, yellow apple, and honeydew melon open the wine, pairing with light blossoms and honey, as well as spices reminiscent of ginger and anise. This complex wine opens with a charming, light fruity opening.
The palate, at this stage, is alive with pronounced fruit and delicate sweetness. One senses its mineral complexity, which already shines through, particularly in the long finish. A wine from old vines with fantastic development potential, one that should be left in the cellar for a few years. Those impatient would do well to decant it or allow it to open for a few days in the refrigerator. A monumental Silvaner will thank you for it.
