Nose

The 2022 Siebeldingen Riesling dry from Muschelkalk presents itself with stimulating fruit reminiscent of apple, citrus, and tangerine, and after a few days of opening, also hints of pineapple, apricot, and white blossoms. All this is framed in the pronounced minerality of the Muschelkalk, which gives it depth and density.

Palate

On the palate, it presents itself with the same mineral depth as on the nose. The vibrant acidity is beautifully embedded in the salty minerality and juicy fruit. The long finish tempts you to have another glass and is further stimulated by the moderate alcohol content of 11% vol. Very good aging potential. At this point, it should be decanted if possible, and it remains fresh and youthful even after several days of opening.

The 2022 Riesling Siebeldinger vom Muschelkalk is from the Sonnenschein Grosse Lage. This is the only village wine with still a touch of reduction implied by slight smokiness. A sense of white pepper plays on the palate where the fruit is absent, apart from lemon. This is more buffered, slightly more citric, really zesty and even pithy on the mouth-watering finish. Less charm but perhaps more character? (Bone-dry)
