24 hours of maceration, pre-clarification through natural sedimentation, aging in stainless steel tanks.

Sparkling golden yellow.

Nose

It presents itself beautifully on the nose – ripe, juicy apple fruit, quince compote, and plenty of citrus fruit reminiscent of orange, lime, and grapefruit. White pepper, stony notes, and smoky hints lend additional complexity to the extremely appealing aroma.

Palate

The 2022 Riesling “vom Rotliegend” is placed on the tongue with anticipation and excitement, where we encounter juicy fruit and playful acidity with a salty aftertaste. A wonderfully drinkable Riesling that sets standards and can be paired with a wide variety of dishes, preferably with spicy and intense notes. It has excellent aging potential. Decanting it at this point, if possible, remains juicy and present even after several days of opening.

The 2022 Riesling Birkweiler vom Rotliegenden was harvested in the Permian conglomerate of the Kastanienbusch Grosse Lage. Its nose is tender, just a little veil of white summer blossom, later with a touch of yellow apple flesh. The palate is juicy, comes on super-light feet and has a lovely core. Lightness, saltiness and freshness are in unison. (Bone-dry)
