Nose

The 2022 Furmint combines freshly chopped almonds and dried herbs on the nose. The almonds are accompanied by a hint of marzipan, baked apple, and caramelized pear. The herbs consist of savory, marjoram, sage, and thyme. It also has a chalky to chalky, stony, cool flavour. It is an absolute purist. Independent. Unique. A hint of beeswax, honey candle, but also acacia honey and fennel pollen round it off very distinctively. It remains exciting to see how this will manifest itself on the nose.

Palate

Fortunately, it seems lively on the palate, but completely unexciting. Its abstract aromas are harmonious and coherent. At medium pressure and a delicate melt, there’s room for the honey aroma. At the same time, it remains true to its stony, sometimes chalky, barren impression. Completely devoid of sweetness, these nectar-like impressions are purely aromatic. Instead, the dried herbs and its charming, nutty character shine all the more.
