Wine Information

The first-class Felix Callejo winery is located in Sotillo de la Ribera, one of the coolest locations in the Ribera del Duero wine-growing region, which lends the wines a certain extra freshness. The climate here is strictly continental, with cold winters and hot summers, as well as large temperature differences between day and night. The “Majuelos de Callejo 2020” is a single-varietal Tempranillo (Tinto Fino), whose vines grow on barren gravel soils at an altitude of 870 to 890 meters. Fermented with native yeasts, the red wine matured for 18 months in 500-liter oak barrels.

Nose

The bouquet offers a cool minerality, along with plum, mulberry, and rosemary. The nose is fruity, earthy, and above all fresh. It leaves a stimulating and complex overall impression.

Palate

The Majuelos de Callejo 2020 represents powerful elegance. It has the full body and tannin-rich structure typical of red wines from Ribera del Duero. At the same time, it is fresh, full of tension, and the silky tannins give it a stunningly polished texture. The wood is also excellently integrated. This wine is Ribera del Duero at its best: dark fruit meets cool, earthy minerality. It has depth, great length, and a fantastic flow, and is overall perfectly balanced.
