Nose

The Brunello Piaggione Riserva from Podere Salicutti is a moving experience. With this Reserva, Francesco Leanza has taken his style of fine, subtle, and highly complex Brunello to the extreme. The wine from the single vineyard Piaggione oscillates harmoniously between light, ripe cherry fruit and the finest wood. As in a chamber concert with the best ensemble, every component is used to its full potential: dried fruit, wild strawberries, herbs, a hint of juniper, and a delicate sweetness with a hint of marzipan.

Palate

On the palate, the 2011 Riserva reveals its full depth in an elegant way. Here, too, the cherry fruit initially dominates, presenting itself as lush and charming as is typical of the vintage. It is accompanied by fine wood, which was already noticeable in the aroma. The wine has a firm structure and a tightly woven texture. The fine-grained tannins shine as if polished, creating an elegant texture. A delicate acidity permeates the wine, integrating precisely and harmoniously into the overall presentation. Wonderful.
