Info

The vines are planted high on the northern slope of Mont Ventoux and in the Dentelles de Montmirail massif at an altitude of approximately 350 meters. Grenache Noir, Carignan, and Cinsault are combined here. Yields are low at 20 hl/ha. The grapes are completely destemmed. The wine is aged in concrete, in enameled barrels and used barriques. The fruit and its expression are in the foreground.

Colour

Dark cherry red with delicate violet reflections.

Nose

The nose is wonderfully playful, dark, and spicy. Morello cherry, plum, and even a hint of sloe are at the forefront. Elderberry, mulberry, and blackberry follow from the rear. It displays nuances of hibiscus and pansy, which refine this dark fruit for elegance. Juniper, black pepper, cardamom, and cinnamon are the spicy representatives. Black olive, rosemary, and thyme add strong Mediterranean aromas.

Palate

It flows over the palate like elderberry juice. Abundant fruit in generous portions, rich in extract and intense. A fine tannin structure coats the palate and provides the wine with plenty of support. Fortunately, the acidity enlivens wines from these vineyards well, always pushing the fruit back. Overall, this wine appears elegant and restrained. It can hardly compete with the tannin, acidity, and extract. A very successful interpretation of an elegant, easy-drinking wine of this style and origin.
