Information about the Wine

While white wine grapes only account for about 5 percent of the area and production in the Catalan DOQ Priorat, the qualities are sometimes outstanding. Les Margues joins this group of high-quality and exciting white wines from the Priorat. This blend of Garnacha Blanca and Garnacha Gris (White and Grey Grenache) comes from high-altitude vineyards with limestone and clay-marl soils. Following spontaneous fermentation, the wine was aged for 12 months in 500-liter oak barrels.

This white wine has an attractive and distinctive nose, in which a wonderful blend of cool minerality, sensual herbal aromas, and a smoky, fiery reduction note merge into one another. None of this is overpowering; the aromatic intensity is equally high. The bouquet is balanced, gripping, and elegant.

Palate

Les Margues also possesses a great deal of expressiveness and personality on the palate. The white wine is full-bodied and creamy, grippy and taut, spicy and complex. The wine has a great arc of tension with ripe fruit aromas and floral notes, along with a fine acidity, punch, and structure, and a long finish with animating salty notes. This white wine offers pure drinking pleasure and is also profound, complex and uncompromising.
