Bright, light straw yellow with green reflections

Nose

A flagship Palatinate Riesling. Yellow and green apple. Juicy, tart, fresh, acidic, and crisp at the same time. It also presents us with abundant green elements such as lemon balm, lemon thyme, chervil, and lemongrass. Mint and coriander add an intense fragrance. Refreshing and intoxicating. Lime zest, kaffir lime leaves, and juicy nashi pear provide support. Pea shoots and fennel seeds conclude the nose with ethereal and vegetal notes in equal measure.

Palate

On the palate, it is precise and clear. As pure as a mountain stream, it flows coolly over the lips. It thrives on a wonderful tart touch. This pushes its fruit somewhat into the background. This allows its robust, crisp elements to shine through all the more. A pure Palatinate wine. Dry and distinctive. Its acidity is moderate, yet distinctive. This Riesling reveals its stony, hard side. It is both stimulating and challenging. The bitterness keeps it balanced. A great Riesling for a comparatively very reasonable price.

The 2022 Mäushöhle Am Kirchenberg Riesling is a pure, deep and intense sandstone Riesling with elegant and stony-scented fruit aromas that indicate great purity and finesse. Lean and elegant on the palate, with bright citrus fruit flavors, this is a moderately intense but tight and characterful, grippy and refreshing Riesling purist with good length and structure. It’s too young to adore now, but it has the talent for improvement. 12% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted in November 2023.
