Information about the wine

The Emilio Valerio winery is located in Tierra Estella, the coolest subzone of the DO Navarra in northern Spain. Around 40 hectares of vineyards, spread across 70 plots, are farmed organically. The terroir is characterized by limestone and sandstone soils and locations at elevations of up to 700 meters. The winery produces the 2021 Amburza red wine from Cabernet Sauvignon. This grape variety has long enjoyed popularity in Navarra, as Bordeaux is not far away. The organically certified wine was spontaneously fermented in large wooden tanks and then aged for 12 months in new and used French barriques.

Nose

The 2021 Amburza presents a fresh nose with berry aromas such as black currant and vegetal notes. The bouquet is of good intensity and overall harmonious and inviting.

Palate

The attack is fresh and juicy, underlined by berry fruits and spicy aromas. The present, ripe tannins leave a velvety, soft mouthfeel. Overall, this full-bodied and full-flavored red wine is very well structured and clearly defined. The wood is also well integrated. Compared to previous Amburza vintages, the 2021 appears less alcoholic and less densely concentrated, but firmer and more exciting on the palate, thus offering a pleasant drinking flow.
