Product description for Foradori Sgarzon Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2014
Christoph Raffelt: The sweet yeastiness of this still-young Sgarzon is also evident on the palate. Partly red, but primarily dark and silky fruit blends in. The texture is also silky, reminiscent of a burnt clay layer, so typical of Tinaja aging. Everything appears clear, pure, refined, and juicy with lively acidity and a downright sparkling minerality. The fruit becomes increasingly darker in the finish, but remains crisp and fresh, accompanied by bitter tobacco, which was also present in the aroma.
Dark purple, almost solid right up to the rim.
The 2014 Sgarzon presents itself wild and earthy; it needs a lot of air to unfold its charm; even after two days of opening, it still doesn’t quite let you in. Its berry fruit has a masculine, tart feel, reminiscent of sloe, rowan, and elderberry wood, accompanied by beetroot, ivy, boxwood, and wild herbs. Its stony and earthy minerality is distinctively interwoven into the aromatic spectrum, making it a great pleasure to approach it sensorially.
On the palate, the 2014 Sgarzon appears even more challenging and youthful thanks to its youthful acidity and tannin structure. Its dark berry fruit blends clearly with the earthy aromas of the nose and ends in a long, mineral finish. Just like the Morei, it’s a pleasure to taste it over several days and follow its various stages. Great aging potential!
If you want to enjoy it now, you should definitely decant it and serve it in a sufficiently large glass.
