Product description for Cirelli Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC 2024 (bio)

The vines for Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grow on lean clay-limestone soils. The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed, and gently crushed before being drawn off into stainless steel tanks, where they macerate for several hours before spontaneously fermenting with their own yeasts.

Color

Light, transparent cherry red.

Nose

The 2024 Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo from Francesco Cirelli is lively on the nose, with aromas of red fruits: currants, cherries, small raspberries, as well as mallow and hibiscus. A hint of pome adds depth. Unadulterated and clear, it promises carefree drinking pleasure.

Palate

Despite its fruity playfulness, the nose is pleasingly serious on the palate: With a fine, phenolically tart bite, the juicy fruit is firmly embedded in the transparent, red-fruity structure of this medium-bodied Cerasuolo. With stimulating tannins and ripe acidity, it walks the fine line between rosé and red wine with independence and confidence.

Vinous

Score: 90

The 2024 Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo is dusty and floral, with pretty rose, tart wild strawberry and wet stone aromas wafting up from the glass. This is a savory effort with a zesty core of acidity that adds a tug of tension. It leaves a resonance of hard red candy and a tinge of spice.
