Product description for Boris Champy Savigny-Lès-Beaune rouge, Petit Aigle AOP 2020 (bio)

Wine Information

For this wine from the Petit Aigle Négoce range, Boris Champy sourced Ecocert-certified organic Pinot Noir from the Les Planchots plots (white limestone soils on the edge of the alluvial fan in the Savigny Valley) and Les Gollardes, a high-altitude plot with shallow, reddish-brown, stony soils in Savigny-les-Beaune. Boris Champy destemmed only 70% of the grapes, so there was a portion of whole bunches. He fermented spontaneously, extracted gently, and aged the wine in tonneaux for ten to twelve months before bottling without filtration.

Colour

Quite intense garnet red

Nose

Boris Champy’s Petit Aigle Savigny-Les-Beaune 2020 is a herbaceous and fragrant wine with dark fruit of crisp plums, sour cherries, some red currant, and rose petals, rounded off with herbal notes, black stallion, and a touch of juniper.

Palate

On the palate, the Savigny-Les-Beaune appears approachable and juicy with linear, clear, and present acidity and a supple texture accompanied by skillful use of oak. Even though the fruit appears ripe and round, there is a pleasantly cool, lively vein to this Pinot Noir, which has a good pull and could easily pass as a vin de soif. Yet it should not be underestimated. The fine wood, the lively acidity, the ripe tannins and the use of stalks give it a good backbone for a long development.
