Information about the wine

The winemaker Vasco Croft in the Portuguese Vinho Verde region is behind the Phaunus wine line. He practices biodynamic viticulture, which is not a given in the rainy Atlantic region and cannot be valued highly enough. The Phaunus Pet Nat 2022 is a blend of the indigenous white wine varieties Loureiro and Arinto, both of which (generally) have wonderful acidity and produce wines with plenty of texture. The alcoholic fermentation of this sparkling wine began in amphorae and ended in the bottle.

Nose

The bouquet is extremely fresh, accompanied by floral aromas, white fruits, and citrus notes. The combination of the Atlantic region and high-acid, aromatic grape varieties is magnificently evident here.

Palate

The Phaunus Pet Nat 2022 has fine bubbles, crisp acidity, and is as tasty as a fresh apple. At 10.5% alcohol, it appears light, but has excellent grip and energy on the palate. The finish is characterized by citrus fruits and a hint of sensual sweetness. This is pure drinking flow, demanding another sip. This wine is a very beautiful interpretation of Vinho Verde, which stands out pleasantly from the majority of carbonated wines there.
