Wine Information

A Gutedel made in the “original, traditional” style. The wine matured for one year unsulfured in large wooden barrels, then aged for another six months on the fine lees in stainless steel.

Colour/Appearance

Brilliant golden yellow.

Nose

The 2021 Isteiner Gutedel has an extremely complex and multi-layered aroma; alongside hazelnuts, almonds, and wine lees, aeration reveals fruity notes of apple, citrus fruits, lemon zest, and lemons swirled in salt. Aromas of light tobacco, vineyard peach, and dried fruit are hinted at, but will only reveal themselves with further maturation.

Palate

The full potential of Gutedel is also evident on the palate. In addition to its freshness and vibrancy at just 11.5% ABV, it is its chalky minerality that characterizes it. An extremely drinkable wine from a grape variety that is complex and exceptional, and which never fails to impress me.
