Description
The Velich winery is located in Apetlon in the nature reserve of Burgenland’s Seewinkel region on Lake Neusiedl. It was founded in 1933, but only really took off in the 1990s with the brothers Heinz Velich and Robert Velich, who later founded the Moric winery. Even then, the Tiglat was created from a single vineyard planted in 1959, the first Burgenland Chardonnay, which also caused a sensation internationally. Later came the Darscho. To this day, Heinz Velich’s vineyards are exclusively planted with white vines. About 45% of them are Chardonnay, Muskat Ottonel, Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling and Bouvier. The simple wines are vinified in tanks, the complex whites and the sweet wines, which are also produced in the best years, in used wooden barrels. The portfolio is deliberately small and the wines have a calmness about them. Just like their producer Heinz Velich.
Free yourself from the convenient tyranny of other people’s tasting notes! We encourage you to find out about the wines from the producers themselves by visiting their website.
