Trossos are the units in the vineyard that a vintner used to be able to work on in one day, so similar to ‘Morgen’ in German. The winery Trossos del Priorat is named after this unit. It was founded in 2004 by the Vives family. The preservation of the cultural landscape and respect for the ecosystem are the foundations both for viticulture and for the winery, which is discreetly integrated into the landscape, including a hotel. From the beginning, the well-known oenologist Toni Coca was at the side of the family, who knew that the 22 hectares were in good hands with their viticulturist Rafel Gauchola. However, the success of the elegant wines is not only due to Toni Coca, but above all to the on-site oenologist, Eva Escudé, whose energy and sensitivity seem to transfer one-to-one to the wines. The wines offer an excellent introduction to the subject of wine from the Priorat.
