Colour

Light to medium golden yellow

Nose

Around 70% healthy and 30% botrytis-affected Sauvignon Blanc berries provide the material for this 2017 BA.T Beerenauslese, which compresses the aroma of dates, grapefruit, and apricots, with ginger, mint, elderflower, and citrus notes dancing over its heavy sweetness.

Palate

On the palate, the yellow fruit is complemented by honeydew melon. The richly ripe fruit, with its 80 grams of sugar, doesn’t seem broad at all, but rather fresh and clear due to the eight grams of acidity and the aging in stainless steel. Spicy and citrusy, it presents itself with elegance and concentration; while not as complex as the Trockenbeerenauslese Essenz, it is a little more playful.

Vinified in stainless steel and coming in at 13.9% alcohol, this is an excitingly clear, fresh, refined and elegant Beerenauslese with impressive concentration. Slightly bitter on the finish. Tasted in May 2019.
