Description
The Scarbolo winery is located in the Friuli Colli Orientali, the eastern hills of Friuli. Since 1997, Mattia and his sister Lara have taken the winery, which was founded by their father, and com-pletely transformed it. Matteo initially landed in the financial world of New York, but eventually felt the desire to return home. Lara had already studied in Udine and in Bordeaux, and had worked for Franz Haas and Vie di Romans, among others. Matteo in turn was inspired by per-sonalities such as Luca Roagna and Arianna Occhipinti. The siblings immediately switched culti-vation to organic and biodynamic farming methods, downsized by 30%, and also clearly stream-lined the assortment in order to be able to offer some of the most distinctive wines of Friuli in the future. Their focus lies on Pinot Grigio in all its possible facets, which up to now have been far too seldom explored.
