Description
At the age of 23, Marjorie Gallet was roaming Roussillon in search of vineyards. She came across ancient Carignan vines that reminded her of the Côte Rôtie, where she had grown up. The Carignan was growing in the middle of a black slate slope on a white quartz vein, the Roc Blanc. Renamed Roc des Anges (Angel Rock) in 2001, it became the nucleus of her estate and the Carignan 1903 that of her almost immediate fame. After eight years of running Mas Amiel in Maury with her husband Stéphane, from 2008 the two agricultural engineers focused together on the ever-growing number of their old vineyard parcels, to which they added the Maurys Les Terres de Fagayra. Working biodynamically, the two are concerned with capturing their terroirs, following the motto “The essence is in nature, the place gives the wine its energy, the light of Roussillon illuminates but does not burn”. Today they make the wines on their farm near Latour-de-France, where they also keep their beloved horses.
