Late Release. Rémi Jobard is a recognized new schooler in Meursault. For around 30 years, he has used exclusively organic fertilization, and in 2008, he obtained organic certification. Jobard’s guiding principle is the calcareous soils of Meursault, which he seeks to bring out through careful aging. Instead of small 228-liter barriques, Jobard uses 600-liter Stockinger barrels. The wood is not used for its own sake, but rather for the slow oxygen exchange. This aging results in crystalline, polished wines with profound minerality and a delicate texture. Jobard has only recently begun vinifying Aligoté himself. Although his father bought the Aligoté vineyards, he always sold the grapes. The 2020 Late Release matured for two years in Jobard’s cellar.

Colour

Strong straw yellow with green reflections.

Nose

The nose oscillates between rich concentration and ethereally weightless lightness. Powerful stone fruit notes reduce the fruit to its skin, revealing phenolic notes with a tart overtone. Delicate citrus notes are also present, which also recall the peel and essential oils. Orange blossom water, a touch of green almond, and French tarragon complete the aroma wheel. This promises powerful concentration on the palate with a solid punch.

Palate

Mission accomplished – crystalline and clear on the palate, polished with an almost painful vibration and striking pressure on the mid-palate. The fruit is outlined by crumbly tannins, which structure it and integrate it aromatically tartly into the overall concept. Citrus oils, grapefruit zest, and citrusy tart components blend with phenolic bitterness, giving it a very mature feel. Powerful with profound bass and striking minerality.
