Wine Information

El Mas de l’A is Alfredo Arribas’ latest project in the DOQ Priorat. His 2020 red wine, Racorell, is a blend of the widely cultivated red grape Garnacha Tinta and its rare mutations, Garnacha Peluda and Garnacha Gris (Grenache Gris). The wine fermented spontaneously in concrete tanks. The wine then aged for 12 months in foudres and half-barrels.

Colour

Cherry red with violet edges

Nose

Racorell has a strikingly fresh and expressive nose of crisp red berries, floral aromas, and a delicate peppery note. The bouquet is not only aromatically extremely stimulating, but also has a unique character.

Palate

On the palate, the wine is incredibly juicy and fresh, with a wonderfully straightforward acidity. It has a silky texture, fine-grained tannins, and elegant red fruit flavours. The finish is medium-length. It’s dangerously easy to drink. This wine has absolutely nothing to do with the heavy, dense, and oak-accented Priorat that was known 15 years ago. The focus here is clearly on drinkability. Racorell is certainly a great accompaniment to many dishes.
