Description
When Marlène Soria – after a career in real estate – bought a house in the wild nature of the plateau of Saint-Pargoire, not far from the Valmagne Abbey, in 1973, she was interested in seclusion, not wine. But in the early 1980s she started clearing the surrounding garrigue and planting vines. At first only for her own use. As a lover of the great Côte Rôties, she mainly used Syrah. Later also some Grenache and Mourvèdre and then Rolle, Roussanne, and Viognier. Organic cultivation from the beginning, to express the terroir with its rocky clay-limestone soils. But her rock-solid conviction is that that only becomes apparent when the wines reach drinking maturity. She therefore gives the three reds and the white Oro, which are naturally fermented in pink concrete tanks, more and more time – in the meantime about ten years. Then the wines of Peyre Rose achieve an absolutely unique character. Legendary, globally admired crus with enormous potential.
