Description
Product description for Nittnaus Anita & Hans Pannobile Rot 2021 (bio)
Wine Info
The hand-picked organic Zweigelt (70%) and Blaufränkisch (30%) grapes for this premium cuvée ripened on prime hillsides on the northern edge of Lake Neusiedl. The Zweigelt comes from the Leithaberg in Jois, the Blaufränkisch from the Ungerberg in Gols.
Maturation Info
Hand-harvested and selected, spontaneous fermentation in wood, 22 months of aging on the lees in 500-liter wooden barrels.
Colour
Dense violet-red, almost colour-dense right to the rim.
Nose
The 2021 Pannobile captivates the nose with dense fruit and mineral, herbal spice. Black cherries, plums, and fresh blackberries pair with tarragon, rosemary, and thyme, as well as a delightful aroma of red bell pepper. Due to its youthful character, the notes of wood smoke and leather are still somewhat in the background, but will become more pronounced with further maturation.
Palate
On the tongue, it surprises with great finesse, refreshing structure, fine, polished tannins, and juicy fruit. A red wine with a very drinkable, charming character that has grip and playfulness. A great food companion with fantastic value!

Vinous
Score: 91
The 2021 Pannobile is 87% Blaufränkisch with 13% Zweigelt. Subtle cinnamon accompanies the blue fruit on the nose. The palate has a density that shows in tightly-meshed, fine tannin that is elegant and drying. There is a touch of heat, but a cooling blueberry fruit comes with bright freshness. The pepper is so appealing, so vivid. This is beautifully long. (Bone-dry)
