Description
Eva Fernández and Luis Ruiz de Viñaspre are the two winemakers who founded Maisulan together more than ten years ago. They describe themselves as “two crazy people who are in love with their land”. And that’s exactly how they treat it: with appreciation and hard work. The plots are located in Rioja Alavesa, more precisely in Elvillar, Viñaspre and Moreda, where they are cultivated organically, biodynamically, and according to Masanobu Fukuoka’s ideas. Their wines clearly show the basic tenor of Rioja Alavesa with a fine fruit and a lot of charm. At the same time, however, the wines, whose fruit grows on loamy-limestone soils at around 550 metres above sea level, are clear, transparent, firm, and distinctive, with grip, juiciness, and freshness. They are certainly modern Rioja, but far removed from strong concentration or even over-extraction. Rather, the wines combine finesse and subtlety with clear contours.
Free yourself from the convenient tyranny of other people’s tasting notes! We encourage you to find out about the wines from the producers themselves by visiting their website.
