Description
Art and wine are the themes that play the decisive roles at Fattoria Le Masse. The small estate is located in Barberino Tavarnelle in the Valle d’Elsa and was acquired by Paolo Mugnaini in the early 1950s. Paolo’s son Alberto, an artist, art critic, and journalist, produced cask wine as a sideline. After his death, in 2006, his wife, the Berlin artist Christiane Kammann, and their two children decided to take over the estate. Robin has been running the winery since 2018 and has introduced biodynamics. Daughter Lea promotes the artistic part from Berlin and offers residences for artists. But not only the labels, also the content of the wines are pieces of art, as old varieties and styles are promoted here. In addition to the official Chianti Classico, the Santa Goccia is an old-style Chianti with 10 % Trebbiano, the Timeo a pure Canaiolo. There are also white wines and olive oils.
Free yourself from the convenient tyranny of other people’s tasting notes! We encourage you to find out about the wines from the producers themselves by visiting their website.
