Description
Located in Vinzelles in the Mâconnais, the La Soufrandière vineyard was acquired by Jules Bret in 1947. In 2000, the brothers Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret, also known as the Bret Brothers, took over the management of the vineyard and converted it immediately to organic cultivation. In 2006 to biodynamic cultivation followed. All their wines are Mâconnais whites with 96% Chardonnay and 4% Aligoté. Gamay is marketed under the Négociant label Bret Brothers. The size of the vineyard today is around 11.5 hectares in Vergisson, Pouilly-Vinzelles, and Saint-Véran. The wines are vinified in perennial tonneaux or concrete vats. Carbonic maceration is used for the Chardonnay La Carbonnode, and sulphur is completely absent in the Zen line. The meticulousness with which the brothers have worked for 20 years has made the winery one of the best and highest-rated in the entire Mâconnais.
