Description
The Karthäuserhof is a magical place and the monopole plot Karthäuserhofberg is legendary. The sun heats up the south-facing slate slope during the day. But at night, the cold air from the surrounding Hundsrück heights flows in and cools it down again. The soil consists of very clay and mineral-rich red slate. This constellation of soil and climate is unusual and makes for unique wines full of character with the potential for world fame. After Christoph Tyrell retired, his cousin Albert Behler took over the winery. After a certain period of reorientation, Mathieu Kauffmann, a big name in the wine industry, was hired as technical director. Already with his first vintage, he has set a clear, qualitative exclamation mark. He courageously focuses on organic viticulture and is experimenting with biodynamic practices. There are probably few places on the Mosel where these ideas can be implemented as well as they can here.
Free yourself from the convenient tyranny of other people’s tasting notes! We encourage you to find out about the wines from the producers themselves by visiting their website.
