Description
The Fritsch winery is located in Kirchberg about 60 km west of Vienna in the Wagram. It was only in 2007 that the Wagram was given the status of a separate wine-growing region. Primarily loess and other soft sediments determine the terrain, which is over forty metres high. Loess, also called the yellow powder, offers excellent conditions for the grapes, as it can store heat and water equally well and therefore has a balancing effect on sun and rain. Karl Fritsch grows the typical varieties of the region here and also made a name for himself as a red wine pioneer in the Wagram. Since 2008, the winery has belonged to the exclusive circle of Austria’s traditional wineries.
