Information about the wine

The name Heureux qui comme … stands for the happiness that Florian Busch and Paola Ponsich feel when they stand on the hilltop and look out over their property with its vines, aromatic and medicinal plants, forest, and fields. The wine is a cuvée of Carignan from a plot of around 40-year-old vines, Syrah, and Grenache. The vineyard is located in a largely sheltered valley at an altitude of around 90 meters. The Carignan has a very long ripening period there and is the last to be harvested. The vineyard is characterized by yellow and blue limestone marl, sandstone, river pebbles, and numerous fossils. After hand-picking and only partial destemming, the wine was fermented spontaneously. The maceration lasted around two weeks. The wine was regularly churned, and the pomace cap was punched down. The wine was aged in used barriques for over ten months, then bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Nose

The 2022 Heureux qui comme … is a fragrant wine reminiscent of elderberry, wildberries, cherries, and blackberries, herbal tincture, some undergrowth, and forest floor. There are also hints of lightly smoked meat, garrigue, and rock.

Palate

On the palate, the wine is juicy and sensual, with a cool acidity and tannin structure and partly warm, partly crisp fruit. It tastes intensely of sweet cherries and a hint of licorice, as well as ripe, sweet blackberries and a hint of sloe. It has ethereal notes of mint and garrigue and a distinctive tannic grip with good draw and flow. This is perfect, uncomplicated drinking pleasure with a sophisticated finish.
