Description
The FamÃlia Nin Ortiz winery belongs to Ester Nin and Carles Ortiz. Ester comes from Pla de Manlleu in Old Penedès, where she also produces some wines today. She studied in Barcelona, which she has in common with her husband Carles. Both initially settled in Priorat independently of each other, she as a sought-after consultant and biodynamically working viticulturist at Mas Martinet, he also as a consultant, but who early on secured the finca Les Planetes including five hectares outside Porrera. That was about 15 years ago. When they came together, Ester had already acquired some plots at the spectacular Mas d’en Caçador. Since the founding of the winery, the two have distributed the wine production among various cellars in Porrera. In 2001, they finally moved into a new winery to optimise their work. Their wines come from partly rare varieties and from ancient plots – they are terroir wines par excellence.
