Wine Information

Probably the best Climat in Saint-Romain, with 13.56 hectares facing southwest and chalky white soils. After a selective harvest, the whole bunches were slowly pressed, followed by fermentation with the vineyard’s own yeasts in wooden cuvées and aging for over a year in pièces and tonneaux with a maximum new wood content of 15%. The wine was unfined, unfiltered, and filled with minimal sulfur.

Colour

Brilliant medium straw yellow

Nose

The Chardonnay from the Combe Bazin vineyard appears fine and elegant. It smells of limes, lemons, and calamansi with some zest and seeds. Added to this are aromas of crisp white peaches and yellow apples. Notes of rock are just as present here as those of hazelnuts and a hint of wood. It’s not an expressive aroma, but one rich in finesse.

Palate

On the palate, the Saint-Romain appears ripe and silky, yet the acidity is clearly noticeable and pleasantly lively. Green and yellow citrus notes are also present here, along with some pineapple, herbs, and rock. Towards the finish, it becomes increasingly piquant and salty, the drinkability increases, and the silkiness and citrus freshness combine to create a successful overall result.
