Wine Information

This wine comes from an unclassified monopoly vineyard with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay between Corpeau and Puligny-Montrachet. After a selective harvest, the grapes were largely destemmed, followed by slow fermentation with the vineyard’s own yeasts in cement, and then aged for over a year in pièces and tonneaux with a maximum new wood content of 15%. The wine was bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with minimal sulfur.

Colour

Fairly transparent crimson

Nose

Monopole vineyards are disproportionately unclassified and often offer more than one might expect. This is the case with the Bourgogne Rouge “Clos de la Perrière” as well as its white counterpart. The Pinot Noir still has a reductive effect, with notes of smoke and cassis. Added to this are seductive hints of ripe raspberries and wild strawberries with undergrowth and foliage, as well as cool notes of rock and lichen.

Palate

On the palate, the Pinot Noir also presents itself reductively at first, but then expands. One finds foliage and undergrowth, sour cherries and plums, vegetal notes, mint, and a hint of pepper. It is a wine with spice and acidity, hints of iron, and fine, balanced tannins.
