Information about the wine

The name Les Boucauds stands for the vineyard directly adjacent to the winery in Chambre. Located at an altitude of 245 meters and facing southeast, the vineyard is characterized by Terres Blanches, the Kimmeridge limestone marl. It comprises about half of the entire property. The vines there are around 15 years old, so still relatively young. The grapes were harvested and sorted by hand, then very slowly pneumatically pressed. Clarification took place in a cool, gravity-fed environment. The juice fermented spontaneously and matured on the lees for 12 months in multi-barreled wooden barrels. The lees were only sporadically stirred.

Colour

Light straw yellow

Nose

The aroma of the Sancerre Les Boucauds is reminiscent of pears and apples with their skins, along with verbena, a hint of elderflower, and lemon seeds. Above all, however, one finds notes of wet rock and petrichor, earth, and hints of nutshells.

Palate

On the palate, the Sancerre is wonderfully juicy and sensual. It possesses the typical fullness characteristic of Riffault wines, but is always accompanied by precision and finesse. Here, one finds quince and pear cream, some white stone fruit, green plums and citrus fruits, extract sweetness, salinity, herbal spice, and a hint of tannin. A very complete Sancerre.
