Wine Information

Le Jour is a champagne made from 100% Pinot Meunier. The fruit comes from the Premier Cru Le Jour single vineyard in Vrigny. The vines, planted in 1971, grow on clay-silt soils with a limestone subsoil. The base wine from the Cœur de Cuvée was spontaneously fermented and aged for nine months in four-year-old 228- and 400-liter barrels. Malolactic fermentation took place. The wine was not sulfurized but disgorged as a Brut Nature. This bottle was bottled in May 2021 and disgorged in February 2023.

Colour

Straw yellow with fine perlage and a slight coppery hue.

Nose

Le Jour is a champagne made from 100% Pinot Meunier. It opens with a spicy impression of blond tobacco and crumbly apple notes, crushed stone, and apple peel. These are followed by notes of pomelo, lemon peel, herbs, and a hint of wax.

Palate

On the palate, this is also a pleasantly spicy, dry champagne, whose spiciness combines with a fine extract sweetness and a hint of patisserie. Le Jour appears juicy and fresh, crisp and piquant, and, thanks to the lack of sulfur, open and inviting. The mouthfeel is crumbly and grippy. Notes of tobacco, apple peel, and wet stone are also present here. This is individual and harmonious.
