Description
Product description for Bencze Birtok Autochthon 2021 (bio)
Info
A natural wine is made from the Furmint, Hárslevelü, and Kéknyelü grapes. Grown on volcanic basalt soil, the grapes are harvested at different stages of ripeness, fermented with minimal skin contact, and aged in amphorae.
Colour
Clearly cloudy golden yellow.
Nose
The 2021 Autochthon appears reductive and wild; ideally, it should be poured directly into the carafe with a flourish. It smells of wild herbs such as sage, mint, and rosemary, and its fruit is reminiscent of wood pear, grapefruit, and quince. Due to its youth, yeasty notes are very present, as are verbena and linden blossom. All in all, it possesses an exciting depth and complexity.
Palate
On the palate, it captivates with aromas of orange and Granny Smith apple, with plenty of smoothness and a delicate, tart note reminiscent of apple peel. Notes of anise and white pepper emerge on the finish, and the low alcohol content of 11.5% ABV lends it a wonderfully vibrant appearance. It will develop even more magnificently with further maturation; a little patience will suit it perfectly.
