Product description for Lesuffleur Miss\u00f9s 2018 <\/p>\n
Miss\u00f9s<\/i> is a selection of nine different acidic apple varieties from the La Folleti\u00e8re and, above all, the Friardel orchards in the Calvados region. This area, planted with these varieties, is the oldest in Friardel, although several trees had to be replanted after storms such as the one in 1999. When Benoit’s grandfather took over the orchard in the 1960s, many of the tall trees were already around 50 years old; today they would be over 100 years old. They are loosely planted, with about 100 to 150 trees per hectare (compared to 700 half-standard trees in newer orchards). They include varieties such as Rambeau, Ren\u00e9 Martin, Locard Vert, and a single ancient Grisse de Lisieux tree. The cider was produced using the traditional method<\/i>, after the fruit had been hand-picked, sorted, and fermented spontaneously. Bottling took place on March 2, 2019, and disgorged on December 6, 2021. <\/p>\nColor<\/h5>\n

For Benoit Lesuffleur, the Miss\u00f9s<\/i> 2018 is the quintessence of his work and certainly a Grand Cru of Calvados. The exclusively acidic apples provide a taut nose, with aromas of apples and quince on the one hand, and woodruff, lemons, pine honey, rocks, hops, and a hint of Geuze on the other. <\/p>\nPalate<\/h5>\n
On the palate, the Miss\u00f9s<\/i> delivers plenty of punch and a taut acidity. Added to this is a successful phenolic structure with a fine tannin and an elegant mousse. This is a deep, fresh, long, and persistent cider that, in addition to all the aromas of fresh fruit and windfall, also evokes yeast, various citrus varieties, and, once again, hops. A great cider.<\/p>\n
