Wine Information<\/h5>\n

This is essentially a red wine made from Pinot Gris. Named after “Samare,” the fruit of an elm, and “Strobile,” the fruit of a larch. The name refers to the trees that grow on the terroirs from which the grapes come. These come from vines planted in 2003 at an altitude of 230 meters. The soils are calcareous and have a high iron content, and the slopes are gently sloping.<\/p>\n

This Pinot Gris is vinified in the same way as a red wine: slow and gentle pre-fermentation of the whole bunches for eight hours, followed by approximately 30 days of fermentation, pressing, and complete malolactic conversion in wooden barrels. The wine then ages on its fine lees in these barrels for 10 to 18 months without b\u00e2tonnage. Finally, it is bottled unfiltered.<\/p>\n

Slightly matte, transparent, strawberry-colored red.<\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

Samares et Strobiles<\/i> is a wine that, due to its style, is actually much more reminiscent of a Pinot Noir than a white wine. Notes of dried red fruits, including stones, are present in the glass: cherries, cranberries, sloes… along with some apple skin, undergrowth, a charming hint of vanilla, tannin, and rock.<\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

On the palate, however, the skin-fermented Pinot Gris expands, becoming juicy, grippy, and complex. Light citrus notes and a remarkable acidity emerge. At the same time, the wine possesses a good portion of tannin and a successful balance between coolness (rock, acidity, minerality, crisp berry fruit) and warmth (some wood, ripe fruit). In addition to the fruit and tannins, the wine exhibits a pleasantly piquant, fresh bitterness, and appears straight and clear. A hint of nutmeg and floral notes emerge in the finish, while the tannins remain polished and dry.<\/p>\n
