Site and Soil<\/h5>\n

Two-thirds of the grapes come from Rubatsch Terlan, and one-third from the Seehof site in Kaltern. Rubatsch is a southwest-facing slope at 250 m above sea level with sandy soil on weathered porphyry rock. Seehof lies at 250 m above sea level with a lake view and loamy limestone gravel as the subsoil. Rubatsch brings finesse and elegance, Seehof provides power and structure. <\/p>\n

Making<\/h5>\n

The must fermented spontaneously in wooden vats using the grapes’ own yeasts. Two weeks of maceration with daily submersion of the pomace cake allowed for a careful extraction of colour and tannins. After sixteen months of aging in barriques, with only one in five barrels being new. <\/p>\n

Colour<\/h5>\n

Dense violet-red, black in the core with minimal lightening towards the rim. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

The 2020 Lagrein Rubatsch exudes an intense aroma of blackberries, elderberries, and sour cherries, along with a hint of vanilla and numerous herbal notes of rosemary, thyme, and ivy. Its dark and intense aroma is underpinned by peaty notes and hints of fine dark chocolate. Pure intensity with a fresh and youthful touch. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

Fresh and youthful tannins pair with dark and juicy fruit. Even at this stage, it presents itself as an extremely appealing wine, captivating with salty minerality, spice, and youthful dark fruit. Perfect with intense meat and braised dishes.<\/p>\n
