The 53 grams of sweetness are by no means intrusive; on the contrary, you wonder where the sweetness has been hidden, so clearly balanced is the 4.9 grams of acidity. The wine is extremely harmonious and precise. The acid structure and vital minerality are particularly inspiring, as are the fine notes of Indian spices, tart oranges, and stony components. In the long finish, the honey-like sweetness, paired with salted almonds, appears in a furious, long finish. What a harmonious wine and what potential! <\/p>\n<h5>Colour<\/h5>\n<p> Light golden yellow <\/p>\n<h5>Nose<\/h5>\n<p> The 2017 Le Mont Moelleux presents itself as inspiringly fresh and clear, almost timeless. Even the aroma is lively and powerful, slightly smoky, as is typical of Le Mont, but overall quite bright and more open than the sec from the same vineyard. Yellow and green apples form the opening, a pineapple on the verge of ripeness joins in, along with curry leaves, saffron, ground stone, and the typical Chenin hint of quince and honey wax. <\/p>\n<h5>Palate<\/h5>\n<p> On the palate, the 2017 Le Mont Moelleux is already impressively complex. On the palate, this is a generous, highly elegant, finessed and juicy Vouvray with fine tannin grip, salty-piquant acidity and good concentration of dried and stewed stone fruits. The wine is compact and tight but vital and full of energy and aging potential. Very tight, firm and salty, with good tension and expression but far too young to be enjoyed within the next five years.
