Wine Information<\/h5>\n

Olivier Humbrecht: Due to its altitude and proximity to the Vosges Mountains, Clos Windsbuhl enjoys a late ripening period, which is why grape varieties such as Pinot Gris were favored in the past and are still the most widely planted grape variety on the Clos. As on many other terroirs, the ripening of the grapes is influenced by current climate change: the harvest takes place earlier, in early\/mid-September, rather than mid-October or later. This development is very favorable for the production of dry wines, as botrytis (noble rot) is becoming increasingly rare. <\/p>\n

Vineyard Information<\/h5>\n

This vineyard was harvested much later in the past and often produced very sweet wines in the style of a late harvest. Climate changes are now much more favorable for the production of drier wines in recent vintages, as the 2021 vintage shows. <\/p>\n

Colour<\/h5>\n

Bright, light golden yellow. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

The 2021 Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl exudes a great deal of complexity and pure minerality on the opening. Olivier’s style becomes even more refined and precise in the Pinot Gris range \u2013 quince, white peach, ripe pear, a hint of apple peel, white bread crust, and freshly churned salted butter. A hint of sea breeze hangs in the air and underlines its elegant character. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

It floats over the tongue with a salty note and playful acidity; the bright yellow fruit and fine malty notes lend it spice and structure. A Pinot Gris that can be enjoyed beautifully on its own and that reaches its peak when combined with aromatic cuisine. It can be decanted beforehand; it should not be enjoyed too cold from large Burgundy glasses.<\/p>\n

The 2021 Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl has a flicker of reduction and shows off subtle russet pear, ripe and gentle. The palate has a pear peel texture and seems almost austere with its bone-dryness. A lemon touch makes the mouth water and becomes more intense towards the dry finish, which holds some gingerbread spice, ginger and cinnamon. Gorgeous and different. (Bone-dry)
