Marian Hen\u00df:This Tempranillo struts its stuff with extreme elegance. Cool minerality spreads across the palate. The fruit is full and rich. The aromas of the nose are perfectly recognizable. Very fine-grained tannins lend structure and tension to the wine. It’s been proven time and again that Tempranillo can serve as the basis for great red wines. This chalky purity, the cool elegance, the perfect minerality, and the fine tannins combine to create a symbiosis that seems highly appropriate for the extroverted and gallant appearance of this wine. Awesome. <\/p>\n

Abri Las Alas is Luca d’Attomo’s top cuv\u00e9e in Ribera del Duero. 100% Tempranillo. 19 months of aging in small French oak barrels. 1,100 bottles were produced. I was privileged to taste bottle 842. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

Tinta Fina \u2013 also called Tempranillo \u2013 can be so beguiling and inviting on the nose. Coconut flakes, a hint of vanilla, and black pepper set the tone. Cinnamon plums, cinnamon zest, and cloves strongly transport you into the cold season. Sweet cherries, blackberries, cassis, and elderberries then open up an open and expansive fruity character. Violets and lilacs swirl around the background in the glass. Mediterranean accents are added with sage and rosemary. Mint and eucalyptus provide the necessary freshness. Pine needles and the scent of pine forests now spread around the glass. The roasted aromas are so brilliantly balanced that they don’t seem to overpower the taste. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

It then reaches its peak on the palate. It flows like silk across the palate. Sublime, majestic, and generous. A very fine-grained tannin envelops the palate. Its texture is both fleshy and bloody. The minerality paired with a very well-integrated acidity create a dynamic balance. These two protagonists clearly shape the mouthfeel. The acidity makes it incredibly juicy and stimulating. A sip of Abri Las Alas is like biting into a handful of fresh berries. Luca d’Attomo masters the integration of wood like few others. Light bitterness and ethereal notes further stimulate the drinking process.<\/p>\n
